Amanda Pettingill, Chair of TUCO, says:
"We're pleased to welcome Simon to the TUCO board. His experience across higher education, hospitality and retail, along with his approach to leading complex commercial operations, adds real depth to the board. Simon's appointment reflects TUCO's ongoing commitment to supporting our members with practical, sector-wide expertise."
Simon has worked across a broad range of organisations over his career, including not-for-profit institutions, international commercial contract caterers, commercial retailers and, most recently, in-house university service providers. This has given him experience leading complex operations, developing teams and delivering commercial growth in a variety of business environments.
Simon's focus areas include building collaborative partnerships, developing people, and running commercial operations with customers, colleagues and sustainability in mind. He has led large-scale transformation programmes and has a track record of championing innovation and continuous improvement, with a leadership style often described as strategic but approachable.
Speaking of his appointment, Simon says:
"I'm looking forward to joining the TUCO board and working with colleagues from across the sector. TUCO plays an important role in supporting members, and I'm keen to contribute to that as well as learn from others involved."
Away from work, Simon is married and the proud father of two supposedly adult children, who continue to keep life interesting. He enjoys playing golf, travelling, and exploring new places, cultures and cuisines when time allows.
