Overview
Established in 1922, Owen Taylor Butchers is a family-owned business with a long-standing reputation for quality, service, and reliability. We employ approximately 170 staff across two operational sites, combining traditional butchery skills with modern processing and distribution facilities.
Our main facility operates as a fully equipped meat cutting plant, while a new, purpose-built site is being developed to replace the original premises. The manufacturing plant, cold storage, and bakery are already operational at the new site, with a phased programme in place to transition all remaining operations efficiently.
As award-winning catering butchers, we supply a comprehensive range of fresh meat and meat products across the East Midlands, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and Northamptonshire. Deliveries are carried out using our fleet of 23 fully refrigerated vehicles, ensuring product integrity and reliable service.
We prioritise sourcing livestock locally where possible. Much of our beef, pork, and lamb comes from nearby farms, with animals slaughtered under contract at a local abattoir and returned to us for processing. This approach supports local agriculture, reduces food miles, and ensures full farm-to-fork traceability.
Sustainability forms part of our operational strategy. We utilise the NetPositive Net Zero engagement tool and the Carbon Trust calculator to measure carbon reduction, supported by initiatives such as packaging reduction, improved logistics planning, solar energy investment, and the transition to a more energy-efficient production facility.
Owen Taylor Butchers has supplied TUCO-affiliated universities for over 12 years, combining the capacity to manage large contracts with the flexibility and responsiveness of a family-run business.
